  • Amazing Experience

There are so many positive things to say about Dr. Naderi and his staff. I went to three different surgeons in search for the right doctor to perform my rhinoplasty and I knew right away after meeting him that Dr. Naderi was “the one.” From the moment I called to set up the consult I could tell his practice was a step above the rest. His staff is so pleasant and knowledgeable and responded to all of my questions promptly. I mostly spoke with Mary and she was awesome! The office is nice and comfortable. Dr. Naderi really took his time to answer all of my questions and to show me computer imaging photos. He is realistic and thorough. My nose turned out even better than I imagined. I had very little bruising thanks to Dr. Naderi’s skill and detailed pre and post op instructions. I have a fear of being put under and was very scared to have surgery but it helped knowing I was in such good hands and Dr. Naderi reassured me throughout the process. Despite surgery anxiety it was completely worth it!

  • Dr. Naderi is a true artist – Highly recommend

I chose Dr. Naderi for my Rhinoplasty because I felt like his specialization and expertise would elicit the best possible result for my unique nose and facial structure. From the first time I met him I could tell that he was very experienced and great at what he does, even if he wasn’t as overly explanatory and comforting as some of the other surgeons I saw. One thing that really stood out to me was Dr. Naderi’s use of the computer imaging in the initial consult, while other surgeons didn’t because “the results rarely look like the picture”. To me, that proved Dr. Naderi’s confidence in what he could do and his ability to execute the plan he and his patients decide upon. This was just one of the reasons I felt like Dr. Naderi was the expert his awards and reviews claim him to be. I am now 6 weeks post-op and could not be happier with the result. My nose is not only extremely similar to the computer imaging but the profile is actually significantly better than the picture predicted. Dr. Naderi is an artist and an extremely talented surgeon. I do not believe I could have gotten a better result from any other surgeon.

  • Dr. Naderi gave me a perfect nose

I am a little over one month post op in my rhinoplasty journey and wanted to take the time to write a review now that I am over alllll of the emotions and stress. :) I was recommended by a friend to Dr. Naderi. He is known as “the nose guy” in the DMV area and after our consultation, I was convinced. He would be the one to change my life. I have always been insecure about my nose. It looked great from the front, but from every other angle, the bump in my bridge and curved tip took away from the aesthetic balance of my face. I’m not going to lie. I was very nervous. Rhinoplasty is a very complex surgery and even if everything is done correctly, sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t let your nose heal properly and I was terrified of the possibility of this outcome, though low. I asked Dr. Naderi a lot of questions. A LOT. He answered all of them very kindly and professionally. I truly don’t know how he has the time, but he certainly makes it. I’ve written a detailed summary of my experience below, as well as attached progress pictures. Before surgery: Dr. Naderi’s staff is amazing. They give the most detailed instructions about all of the herbs, supplements, and foods to avoid 2 weeks prior to and after surgery. I followed his instructions to a T (I even took it one step further and stopped using my face serums that contained nut oils). It clearly worked. He said I hardly bled on the operating table, and less bleeding leads to less swelling, and better results! I also started taking Arnica tablets a few days before surgery. Two tablets twice a day (morning and night). Follow his instructions, people. Day of surgery: I was really impressed with the synergies of Dr. Naderi’s office and the hospital where the surgery was performed. It was a seamless procedure that is again spelled out in the paperwork provided by his staff. The most pain I felt was definitely getting the IV stuck in my hand. I remember being wheeled to the operating room on a stretcher, and then waking up in the recovery room. Waking up did kind of stink. I am really bad with drugs and the pain medication that I was being given through an IV made me so nauseous that I actually asked for them to cut it off. I was scared of vomiting and ruining the results of my nose. Thankfully, sitting still and doing breathing exercises for about 30 minutes made me feel better and I did not puke. Post op days 1 through 4: – Pain: I have a pretty low threshold for pain and I ended up taking only one of the pain killers Dr. Naderi prescribed me. On day 3 post op. I took Tylenol the rest of the time and that worked just fine. Rhinoplasty is not painful, but it’s really uncomfortable. – Bruising and swelling: I did not bruise AT ALL. Which is really surprising because I bruise like a peach. I have to assume the reason for my lack of bruising was 100% due to Dr. Naderi’s gentleness during surgery. I did swell, but only in my cheeks, and only on days 3 and 4. It was weird because I looked like I had my wisdom teeth out, not my nose operated on! Lol. – Food: I basically ate chicken porridge and drank pineapple + spinach smoothies for the first week. I also snacked on cinnamon toast crunch. All of these things help with bruising and swelling (protein, pineapple, spinach, cinnamon). I also continued to take two Arnicare tablets twice a day, in addition to Tylenol and my prescribed antibiotics. – Cleaning: Using cutips, I cleaned the base of my nose with hydrogen peroxide and then covered the base of my nose with vaseline, as instructed by Dr. Naderi. I did this about 6x a day. – Sleeping: Sleeping was tough. My throat hurt way more than my nose did, because breathing out of your mouth 24/7 stinks! Luckily, I was able to breathe out of my nose around day 4 so my suffering was temporary. I bought a pregnancy U-shaped pillow and stacked 3 pillows on top of that to sleep upright at night. I highly recommend getting a pregnancy pillow, they lock you into position so that you don’t move around. – Time off: I had my surgery done on a Wednesday, and I took off Wednesday — Friday. I would say you need a full 5 days to do nothing but rest and recover. I felt fine, and quite frankly, was bored out of my mind by day 6. Day 5 — Cast off: Best day ever! I had prepared myself for the worst by watching a bunch of rhinoplasty videos on YouTube and fully expected to see a clown staring back at me when the cast was removed. But I didn’t. I saw a really beautiful nose that was clearly swollen — but I could totally tell what it would look like once the swelling went down. I was elated. Dr. Naderi fixed my hump and my tip without making my nose look any wider from the front, which is a common result for dorsal hump removal. In fact, I would say my nose looks a little thinner from the front now that it is more defined and overall longer. The only concern I had after cast removal was the healing of my columella incision. The incision had been covered with tape when the cast was on, so when the cast came off, I was left with a very crusty incision line, as well as some dried blood clots in the upper inner corners of my nostrils. Post op days 6 through 1 month: – Skin care: For the first two weeks, I cleaned my nose bridge by only using an alcohol free astringent on a cotton ball. I started using saline spray and discontinued the hydrogen peroxide, but continued the Vaseline. At two weeks, I wore makeup on my nose for the first time as I had to become a real person again. So after the two week mark, I started applying powder makeup to my nose, removing it with micellar water on a cotton ball, gently washing it with Cetaphil face wash, applying toner with a cotton ball, and then applying lotion very gently with my fingertips. I wear sunscreen and a hat whenever I go outdoors during the day. All of this has really helped with the blackheads and dry skin, although at post op day 35 I definitely still have blackheads but no more dry skin! – Scar healing: My incision line isn’t really all that pink at post op day 35. However, I have several white bumps on my columella (3 — one in the middle and one on the edges of both inner nostrils). Dr. Naderi confirmed that these are essentially white heads from all of the occlusive Vaseline, and they will go down in time. I am applying CicaCare silicone gel to my incision line every night and making sure to cover my incision with sunscreen during the day. – Swelling: I still sleep with 2-3 pillows and on my back. This is pretty easy for me as I have always been a back sleeper. My nose is definitely more swollen in the morning from the front view, and I have a tiny bit of swelling left between my eyes but it is barely noticeable. I think almost all of the swelling has left my bridge. The most residual swelling I am noticing is in my tip (but again, I can’t really notice it) and inside my nostrils. The edema inside my nostrils is only present in one nostril and it slightly affects my breathing, but not enough to force me to breathe out of my mouth. -Tip dropping: I know this is a big concern for many rhinoplasty patients. When my cast came off, my tip was a little too high. But I expected this, and knew it would drop. My tip dropped at ~2.5 weeks. I think it still has a little dropping to do, but I actually really like the height that it’s at now, so I hope it doesn’t! -Facial expressions: The hardest part for me during recovery was honestly not being able to smile/laugh/yawn excessively. Dr. Naderi told me it drops the tip prematurely, so I tried very hard to not smile a lot, but it’s hard! First world problems. This whole recovery process made me realize just how often I smile, and how much I have to be thankful for. Oh, and I haven’t exercised AT ALL. Which is kind of fun. :) – Food and drink: After the two week mark, I went back to eating my regular foods and drinking wine occasionally. By the way, my regular foods are things like pizza, chips, and foods not low in sodium. However, I haven’t really seen that much of a difference in swelling … perhaps because my body is so used to all the poison I regularly subject it to! 35 days post op: At a little over one month post op, honestly my biggest concern is that my nose looks too good for one month. I don’t even know how much better it can get. Again, first world problems! But seriously, this whole experience has been a lot less terrifying than I expected it to be. And recovery was a lot smoother than I expected it to be… low pain, zero bruising, minimal swelling… and I am someone who has thick, oily, ethnic skin. So I was really expecting the worst. I really can’t attribute all of the positives to good fortune. I have to attribute it to Dr. Naderi. If you are going to get a nose job, you need to get it with Dr. Naderi. You will not regret it.

  • A master of medicine and art

I’ve been self-conscious of my nose since elementary school. When I finally had the opportunity to get a rhinoplasty I spent a lot of time researching surgeons in the NoVA area. Ultimately my consultation with Dr.Naderi made the decision quite easy. He kindly guided me through the process and confidently explained his specific vision for my nose with imaging software. I felt comfortable every step of the way because I knew he was going for a natural result that fit my face. The staff members at the surgery center were very friendly and the entire process was actually pretty enjoyable. I had significant problems with the pain medication afterward, nausea and vomiting, but Dr. Naderi was easy to get in touch with and he quickly suggested pain relief alternatives. I recently had the cast removed and the initial results are nothing short of amazing :) Dr. Naderi is an artist and true master of his craft. I couldn’t be happier!

  • Excellent revision surgery

I had a primary surgery about 12 years ago and had been so disappointed. I had seen a general plastic surgeon, not realizing the importance of specialization. As years went on, my nose looked worse and worse, but I was very hesitant to do another surgery for fear of making things worse. I found Dr. Naderi three years ago and, based on the reviews, knew that if I was ever to do it, he was the one. I saved up and finally got over my fears and went to talk to him. He was kind and recognized how a revision surgery is very different – it can be really scary since you’ve already had a bad experience once. He was realistic and told me what could and could not be done. And best of all, the preparation and after-care instructions he provided helped me know exactly what to expect, which helped me feel so much more at ease. 1.5 years after my initial conversation with him, I finally took the plunge and went for it. I have been so pleased with the outcome already, just a month and a half later. It fits my face perfectly and looks natural. I really only wish I had done it sooner, and am absolutely thrilled that I faced my fear and did it. Thanks to Dr. Naderi and his team for making it so easy – it was much less of a big deal than I thought, all because I was finally in the hands of an expert.

  • Perfect

My first visit to Dr. Naderi was an amazing one. I am very pleased with my results. A very natural look, just what I wanted. He did not try to sell me any extra procedures, just the right amount. He is very professional, knowledgeable, calm and confident. He took his time in explaining everything and analyzing my face and what needed to be done. Also, the staff is very friendly.

  • Thank Dr. Naderi and his amazing staff

I decided to wait over two months before I submitted my review to Realself. I am a 28 year old male from Virginia. Throughout my life, I struggled with my nose. I had a medium sized dorsal hump and narrow mid vault. I found Dr. Naderi by searching Google and reviewing posts like these. I hope to share a lot of information regarding my experience with people wanting to undergo this procedure. However, if I can say one thing right away; Dr. Naderi is an excellent surgeon and I could not be happier that I chose him to perform my rhinoplasty. You are in good hands. Dr. Naderi is highly specialized in treating the nose because it is the only procedure he performs. Below is a brief summary of my experience.

    Pre surgery:
I was very nervous prior to my surgery. I spent a lot of time researching the risks of rhinoplasty and had a very tough time committing to the procedure. I met with Dr. Naderi for an initial consult and was shocked that Dr. Naderi almost talked me out the surgery on the first day. During the hour initial consult he discussed with me the procedure and took photos and generated an image of how he would shape my nose to match MY face. I wasn’t looking for any particular nose, but a nose that fit my face better. I think this is a the appropriate mentality to use when wanting to undergo rhinoplasty. Dr. Naderi was able to determine what needed to be done to give me this result.

After several months I scheduled my surgery and was a little scared. I met with him 1 or 2 weeks prior to the surgery to discuss post-op instructions and to answer any last minute questions. He answered all my questions and tried his best to put me at ease. I even emailed Dr. Naderi a few days before the surgery with a question and he responded promptly. He will give you instructions on cleaning and care after the surgery. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!! He also write my prescriptions and his staff answered any last minute questions

    Surgery day:
Day of the surgery I was very nervous. I did not sleep the night before the surgery but was anxious to get it over with. The excitement of the surgery outweighed the anxiety. Dr. Naderi talked with me before the surgery and comforted me right before I went back. Another recommendation is to make sure you have ALL your questions answered prior to the surgery day! The day of the surgery is a time to relax. Dr. Naderi’s plan was to remove some cartilage and bone to remove the hump and to also place a spreader graft material to widen the middle part of my nose.

    Post-op
I remember waking up after surgery and I couldn’t believe it was over. It felt like the surgery took minutes, but it fact it took over an hour. I got into my car and my girlfriend drove me to the hotel. I did throw up one time a few hours after the surgery, but was advised this was a normal reaction. The first day wasn’t too bad. I slept a lot and took my pain medication. I wasn’t able to eat much. There was a hard white cast on the outer surface of my nose and an adhesive tape underneath the nose which helps with swelling. Dr. Naderi even called me to check in on me after the surgery.

I cleaned my nose religiously with hydrogen peroxide and kept my nose moist with vaseline just like Dr. Naderi had advised. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS. The week went by slow. I kept zip lock bags of frozen peas on my eyes and nose after the surgery . I also slept upright every night of the first few weeks to help with swelling. At about day 3 I did have large bruising under my eyes. I think it took up to 3 weeks for the bruising to completely go away, but 80 perfect of it was gone within and week and I was able to go out into public without people noticing.

Cast removal was one week after my procedure. I was very nervous and went to Dr. Naderi’s office without any friends or support which I do not recommend! Dr. Naderi’s staff took me straight back into the back room to have my splint removed. I had followed his instructions to shower a few times to let the cast soak for easy removal. The splint came off with no problem. Dr. Naderi handed me the mirror and I was very surprised to say the least. The amount of swelling really caught me off guard. My nose was perfectly straight, however it was much larger than I imagined because of the swelling. Remember that THERE WILL BE SWELLING AND THE SWELLING WILL GO DOWN. Relax. It will take some time however. Even after two months my nose is still swollen in the morning and after showers but it is significantly smaller than two months ago. Every week there is improvement. To anyone out there reading this and concerned about swelling, it will go down. However, depending on the type of surgery done and skin time, the time table will vary. It took my nose about 1 month to reduce in swelling enough so that I was comfortable again. Keep in mind it will take up to years for it to fully subside especially if you have thick skin. Dr. Naderi warned me of swelling the very first visit, but it did not process as to how much swelling there would actually be.

Its been 2 month since my surgery and my nose still doesn’t feel like 100% normal. There is still swelling and some days it is worse than others. There is still some general discomfort but its sometime I don’t notice as much anymore. I did have some numbness for a few weeks after the surgery and wasn’t really able to smile very large for about a mouth. My sense of smell hasn’t really come back yet either. It gradually improves week to week but I notice its still not as good as it used to be. Please message me if you have any questions regarding the procedure or Dr. Naderi. I cannot thank Dr. Naderi and his amazing staff as well. Thank you!

  • 72 year old female

What always comes to mind is the technically trained musician that plays all the notes correctly but is void of the distinction that makes him a great artist. Dr. Naderi is not only a highly trained plastic surgeon but has that added undefinable ability that only few plastic surgeons have that makes such a difference- an eye for perfection, balance, and harmony..

  • Awesome doctor (and his entire team)

General Impression: Dr. Naderi is phenomenal. He is true professional, brilliant at his work, a beautiful artist as well as a scientist. He is an exemplary surgeon who impeccable in his mannerisms and forthcoming in addressing patients’ concerns. From the time I started searching for doctors for my rhinoplasty till today (two weeks post-surgery), I cannot point at a single instance where he and his staff did not impress me. At every stage of the process, they exceeded my expectations. They epitomize a living case study in management excellence.

    Specific Comments:

Dr. Naderi has built a stellar reputation over the years. He is the go-to doctor for rhinoplasty. After having my surgery done by him, I know why. Read the reviews about his work; they illustrate why he is awesome. If you aren’t convinced, go and meet with him. You won’t need to look any further for a rhinoplasty surgeon.

Three elements of my experience with him stand out:

First, what truly impressed me about Dr. Naderi was that at no stage did he or his staff make rhinoplasty appear as a service that they were selling. I never felt that I was the customer in the market trying to “buy” a doctor’s time. Instead, he and his team made it clear to me from the onset that this process was a partnership between the patient and the doctor, and that pre-operative and post-operative care by the patient were instrumental in shaping the results from the surgery. This made me feel more engaged and committed to the journey and treat the entire process as something that I played a part in.

Second, I was taken by his honesty. I am convinced that his superb reputation is carefully built on his ability to be honest with his patients and walk them through the different possibilities. He and his staff did not make lofty promises to make me feel good or quickly sign me up for a surgery. They were transparent from the onset. I wasn’t going to have the perfect, flawless nose; I was going to have a much better nose than I did before the surgery. I wasn’t going to look artificial after the surgery; I was going to look a much better version of myself. I wasn’t going to have exactly the nose that the digital imaging showed; I was going to have something very close to that. Such level of honesty really mattered to me and in fact made the difference between him and the other doctors that I visited for consultation. His attitude convinced me that (a) I was not dealing with a businessman, but a doctor who was genuine in his intent and very practical about what he can deliver, and (b) I knew what I was walking into and signing up for. (Side note: he is conservative in his estimates – the results do look better than the pictures.)

Third, the attention to details and the level of professionalism by him and his staff is truly inspiring. I could not find a doctor available in time for my pre-op clearance (this had to be done a couple of weeks before the surgery). No problem, Dr. Naderi’ staff made it happen; they called several clinics and arranged for me to go to a clinic nearby for my pre-op. Another example: I could not collect my medication from the pharmacy in NYC. No problem; they called another pharmacy on my behalf and had the medicines wait for me at a location that would suit my convenience.

Two weeks prior to the surgery and until today, I feel so well prepared. Unlike most patients, I do not have a lot of swelling on my face, nor under my eyes. That’s because I followed their detailed instructions to the hilt.

One final point: I believe a good doctor (there are many!) meets the patients’ expectations and delivers what she/he promised. But, the hallmark of a great doctor goes beyond technical brilliance. It is about engaging with the patient in a way that she/he does not feel like an outsider to the process. It is also about carrying himself in a way that leaves a lasting impression. On these counts, I believe he is a great doctor and a truly nice human being. I wish him and his excellent team all the very best.

  • I am very happy with my surgery by Dr. Naderi

Short review: Dr. Naderi is the best! He is relatable, wants to help, this is the only surgery he does, and he is very good at it. I am very happy with the surgery.

    Long review:

When looking for a surgeon who will affect your face and how you look, you want to be RIGHT. Moreover, since your insurance will not cover a majority of the cost of this surgery, you also have to make sure that you get it right in the first shot i.e. hopefully not requiring a revision rhinoplasty, to avoid spending much more money again.

For the reason that insurance does not cover bulk of the cost, even the doctors are more inclined to market themselves and most of them are very good at it. So we are then looking at hundreds of websites with many doctors with different price points in different cities, and everyone appears to be very good. We run into a problem of too much of information and we don’t know what is the right criteria to select our surgeon.

The selection criteria I went with was as follows:

    1. The reviews on realself, a popular website, should be very good (5 star) as a starting point.
    2. The number is reviews should be large enough so that I can be confident that they are more likely to be genuine.
    3. He should meet my price point. This is tricky as being a luxurious service, we automatically assume that the higher the price, the better the surgeon. You have to consider the location into it. E.g Surgery cost in NYC will, in general, be more expensive than even nearby cities like Boston or DC.
    4. Nose surgery should be his specialty. I would much rather be operated by someone who does only nose surgeries than a surgeon who is a general face surgeon. In layman’s terms, I would much rather be operated by someone who has done this surgery hundreds of times already.
    5. Getting comfort in dealing with him: How specific the surgeon is in telling you what the issue is and what he can do to resolve it? Do you get comfort in having him operate your nose? Is he relatable? Can you tell him frankly what you want? Is he trying to understand you?
    6. Professionalism: How professional are the surgeon and his staff in dealing with you? Most of them do hard selling as it is a very competitive market.

I choose Dr. Shervin Naderi for the following reasons:

    1. His reviews are stellar. They are so good that at one point I was wondering if it was even possible for someone to have those kind of reviews? Well, I am writing one myself .
    2. He has a lot of them!
    3. He charges more than a typical surgeon in the DC metro area but that’s because he is very good at what he does. His staff is very good in walking you through the cost and payment options.
    4. Rhinoplasty is the only surgery he does and he does a lot of them every week.
    5. He was very clear during my consultation about what he can do and what he cannot do. He showed me photo of my nose on his screen and also showed what he can change that into. This is really big as it sets your expectations right away. FYI- this is not a typical experience. During my research, I came across certain doctors in NYC, with much higher as well as lower price points, who told me within five minutes of consultation that my nose required a complex surgery but that they could make my nose beautiful. That’s it. No specificity. Some of these doctors did not even show me on the screen the possible digital outcome of the surgery. .
    6. Dr. Naderi is very relatable and genuinely wants to help solve nose problems. He is very responsive. He called me the evening, a few hours after surgery, just to check in how I was doing. He is very prompt in responding to emails. I sometimes felt guilty that I am asking him every question coming to my mind rather than looking it up online. But he was always very good in answering questions in detail. His team is also very professional. I never felt that they wanted to sell the surgery to me. In fact, he offered me to take a second opinion in NYC if I wanted and also offered alternatives in case I didn’t want to go through the surgery. His staff members, Mary, Venessa and Sarah were very professional from the start in responding to any question I had. This is a complicated surgery and there are many things to take care of at every stage and things can go wrong if you don’t and so details are very important. This is again where Dr. Naderi and his team are the best. His team is so meticulous in getting you ready for surgery and preparing you from two weeks before surgery on what to wear, what to eat / drink, all medications, how to deal with swelling, how you should sleep, etc. until to weeks and months after the surgery. This was a lot of work but I never felt nervous about the surgery and recovery because I was so well prepared for each stage of this process.
